10 March 2014

oh my stars

Well, it's practically the middle of March so I freely admit to "self-medicating" myself with color, color, color. The color yellow, specifically - and it's funny how my creative cravings seem to be cyclical because I was doing the same thing this time last year.

The pattern for the quilt I'm working on can be found here. I like it so far because I haven't had to cut special diamond pieces with a template - it's just squares - my favorite. I'm going to stick with variations of squares as long as possible . . . make a thorough study of it. (And also I have cut out a lot of extra 3" squares for all of the other quilts I've been making, so I need to use them up. ) I'm thinking of putting this star on a field of yellow fabric . . . let's just go bright.

The elephant has returned. This is going to be a little pillow for my niece. My sewing machine is currently tucked away in the closet, but I need to pull it out and start sewing things together.

Hope March is treating you kindly.

XOXO

Jillian

  4. The elephant is gorgeous! Your loaves look yummy - what nuts are on the top? We have a number of walnut trees here and they're dropping fruit at present. :-)

    1. I used walnuts to top the loaves - walnuts and a mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon. Thank you!

  6. Hi Jill - the fabric on your star is bright and inviting - it looks like the bag of Starburst jelly beans I just poured into the candy dish. I'm reaching in now for a mouthful of yummy goodness!!!
